Township of Holmdel Closure Information

March 14, 2020

Township of Holmdel joins Holmdel Public Schools and Monmouth County in restricting public access to buildings to limit potential exposure to COVID-19

Beginning Monday, March 16th, there will be restricted public access to Municipal Buildings and all public meetings are cancelled until at least March 30th

The Township of Holmdel, as a proactive step to limit the potential spread of COVID-19 and to support social distancing, will be restricting access to Town Hall to employees only starting Monday March 16th for a period of two weeks. All municipal offices will remain open and accessible to the general public via both phone and email during this time.  Additionally, Holmdel Municipal Court and all public evening meetings; including Planning Board, Zoning Board of Adjustment and Township Committee will be cancelled until at least March 30th.  The Township is taking this public health emergency very seriously and takes this measure out of an abundance of caution in an effort to protect residents and the employees who serve them.

The Holmdel Public Schools last evening announced that they too will be closing for two weeks. Remote instruction and learning will start on Tuesday March 17th.  The County of Monmouth is also closing all offices to the public (with the exception of social services) through March 22nd.  Bayshore Medical Center is temporarily directing all new patients to other hospitals.

Township staff will continue to report to work and residents can conduct business via email and phone.  If residents have extenuating circumstances where they need a face to face interaction, they may contact town offices so proper arrangements can be made.  The Township asks for patience as this develops and apologizes in advance for any inconvenience this may cause.

“We understand that this situation is causing many to experience feelings of concern,” said Mayor Buontempo. “The Township of Holmdel is carefully monitoring this rapidly changing situation.  We are meeting daily with our first responders and we are in constant contact with Bayshore Medical Center as well as school, county and state officials to ensure that we are doing everything we can to mitigate the effects of this virus in our community.  Despite this temporary restriction on public access, we are dedicated to ensuring that we continue to serve the residents of Holmdel.”
