Recycling

Department of Public Works is located at 14 Crawfords Corners Rd.  The Recycling Drop Off Center is opended weekdays from 8:00 am - 12:00-12:30 -2:30 pm.  Acceptable items for drop off are: all cans, plastic containers, bottles, jars, cardboard, newspaper, office paper and mixed paper.

CONSTRUCTION DEBRIS
Construction debris is the responsibility of the contractor and/or resident to remove.  This includes lumber, paneling, plasterboard, roofing material, wood fence, concrete, asphalt or brick and similar items.  Such items are never accepted at our DPW.  Anyone who dumps/places construction debris at their curb or at our DWP facility may be issued a summons for illegal dumping.

Call regarding disposal of:
Motor oil, antifreeze, batteries, gasoline, pesticides, fertilizers, herbicides, oil based paint, solvents, thinners, varnishes, pool chemicals, propane tanks, fluroescent bulns.

PAINT/PAINT CANS
OIL  BASED PAINT must be brought to the Hazardous Waste Facility.  If the can is completely emply and cleaned it should be put out with your recycling.  Lids must be removed.

DRIED LATEX BASED PAINT should be disposed of with your regular household refuse.  Use commerial "paint hardner" available in most improvement stores, or other absorbants such as cat litter, sawdust or dirt.

HOUSEHOLD BATTERIES ARE NO LONGER BEING RECYCLED
Common non-rechargeable household batteries (A, AA, AAA, C, D and 9v) no longer contain mercury and manufactures have substantially reduced the content of other heavy metal and should be disposed with regular household and commerical trash.

The only types of batteries now recycling are rechargeable and button batteries used in varioys electronics products.  A receptable for these batteries and used cell phones is located in Town Hall next to the elevator on the first floor.

DISPOSAL OF HOUSEHOLD WASTE
The Township provides its residents with curbside collection of recyclables; however individual households are responsible for contracting directly with a cartage company for the removal of its household waste.
